How do you make games and other cool stuff?

I mean I'm in a Java class and am DESPERATELY searching through the book we're using about how to make games in Java. I mean how do you do it? CAN you make games in java? Or anything cool other then saying



System.out.println("How do you make games?");



That stuff is boring! Where can I go to learn how to do this stuff using Java or other programming languages?How do you make games and other cool stuff?
Yes you can make games in Java, and Java is especially good for "mobile game development", but also do-able for other games.



I suggest you look into the following books(reading these books, you are assumed to have prior experience in programming and know how to program in Java Standard/SE already):



1.) Beginning Java Game Programming, 2nd Edition



2.) Killer Game Programming in Java (O'Reilly)



3.) Pro Java 6 3D Game Development: Java 3D, JOGL, JInput and JOAL APIs
